Cypher (band) - Music

Music

Cypher have been variously classified as Post Rock, Space Rock, Noise and Shoegaze. Although their music can contain elements of any of these categories, they don't fall into any specific one.

Their sound is often characterised by multiple delay effects on the guitar, causing a 'wall of sound'. The guitar and bass riffs are often repeated at great length, ebbing and flowing in volume and intensity. The songs can be quite long, sometimes exceeding 15 minutes in length. Live, the band often performs at loud volumes.

Famous quotes containing the word music:

But the dark changed to red, and torches shone,
And deafening music shook the leaves; a troop
Shouldered a litter with a wounded man,
Or smote upon the string and to the sound
Sang of the beast that gave the fatal wound.
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

    For I have learned
To look on nature, not as in the hour
Of thoughtless youth, but hearing oftentimes
The still, sad music of humanity.
    William Wordsworth (1770–1850)

He turned out to belong to the type of publisher who dreams of becoming a male muse to his author, and our brief conjunction ended abruptly upon his suggesting I replace chess by music and make Luzhin a demented violinist.
    Vladimir Nabokov (1899–1977)
