Cwmbran Railway Station

Cwmbran railway station (Welsh: Cwmbrân) is situated in the northeast of Cwmbran town centre within five minutes' walking distance. It is part of the British railway system owned by Network Rail and is operated by Arriva Trains Wales. It lies on the Welsh Marches Line from Newport to Hereford. The station was opened at this site in 1986 serving the commuter route to Newport and Cardiff, and shoppers to the town centre.

Historically there were a number of other railway stations in Cwmbran, though they were closed through the 1960s. The original Monmouthshire Railway and Canal Company line to Blaenavon ran to the west of the town. It was closed to passengers in 1962 and goods in 1967 although the line saw coal traffic until 1980. The station at Lower Pontnewydd was located just 300 yards north of the present station on Station Road. It closed to passengers in 1958 and goods in 1965.
