Famous quotes containing the words curse and/or tablet:
“It is the curse of a certain order of mind, that it can never rest satisfied with the consciousness of its ability to do a thing. Still less is it content with doing it. It must both know and show how it was done.”
—Edgar Allan Poe (18091849)
“The eyes, opening and shutting like keyholes
and never forgetting, recording by thousands,
the skull with its brains like eels
the tablet of the world
the bones and their joints
that build and break for any trick....”
—Anne Sexton (19281974)
