Tours

Broadway national tours have played at the Curran Theatre throughout its history. As operated by SHN (Theatres), The Curran hosted five years of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera, becoming the show's longest run within the US outside of NYC. Other significant long runs presented by SHN (Theatres)at the Curran include Les Misérables, Jersey Boys, They're Playing Our Song, as well as Lily Tomlin in Jane Wagner's The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe. In 2003, the musical Wicked originated at the Curran with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel before opening on Broadway. In 2006, A Chorus Line began its current revival at the Curran. This was especially fitting because after A Chorus Line first opened on Broadway in 1975, the very first touring company launched at the Curran with nearly all of the original principal cast members. Over the years, the show returned to the Curran for numerous successful runs.

In recent years, highlights of Broadway shows presented by SHN (Theatres) at The Curran include: The national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Spring Awakening in September 2008; The national tour of RENT starring Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp for a two week engagement in 2009.

The national tour of the Tony Award winning musical In the Heights from May 12-June 13, 2010 and the much acclaimed national tour of Dreamgirls played four weeks beginning in August 2010.

The national tour of the Tony Award-winning musical Next to Normal played the Curran from January 25-February 20, 2011, with Alice Ripley reprising her role from Broadway as Diana.
