Cult Wine - California Cult Wines

California Cult Wines

California cult wines refers to any of the California wines "typically but not exclusively Napa Valley Cabernets" for which collectors, investors and highly enthusiastic consumers will pay very high prices. The producers of such wines include Araujo, Colgin Cellars, Dominus Estate, Grace Family Vineyards, Harlan Estate, Opus One, Screaming Eagle, and Sine Qua Non.

These wines are generally very expensive and are limited production (often fewer than 600 cases per year) and can command several times their "release price" upon release.

Famous quotes containing the words california, cult and/or wines:

I can’t earn my own living. I could never make anything turn into money. It’s like making fires. A careful assortment of paper, shavings, faggots and kindling nicely tipped with pitch will never light for me. I have never been present when a cigarette butt, extinct, thrown into a damp and isolated spot, started a conflagration in the California woods.
    Margaret Anderson (1886–1973)

By Modernism I mean the positive rejection of the past and the blind belief in the process of change, in novelty for its own sake, in the idea that progress through time equates with cultural progress; in the cult of individuality, originality and self-expression.
    Dan Cruickshank (b. 1949)

Mixing one’s wines may be a mistake, but old and new wisdom mix admirably.
    Bertolt Brecht (1898–1956)
