During Emperor Gaozong's Reign
After Emperor Taizong's death in 649, Emperor Taizong's son Emperor Gaozong made Cui the prefect of Jian Prefecture (簡州, roughly modern Ziyang, Sichuan). Cui died soon thereafter.
