"Feel"
Different materials used for the manufacture of a cue have an effect on the feel of the cue and the response generated when played "feel". Variations in construction materials and manufacturing methods can alter the vibrations generated when playing. Because of this composite cues, with cores made of wood, tend to be used as break cues due to their stiffness and tendency to become damaged.
The rising use of synthetic materials is considered to be a product of sponsorship of professional players. However the weight savings which benefit other sports such as golf and tennis are not applicable to cue sports due to the weight regulations on sticks.

Famous quotes containing the word feel:
“No wonder that all of us feel at home with mediocrity since it leaves us in peace; it gives us the comforting feeling as if one were in the company of ones equals.”

“How comes it that a cripple does not offend us, but a fool does? Because a cripple recognizes that we walk straight, whereas a fool declares that it is we who are silly; if it were not so, we should feel pity and not anger.”

“Give me the keys. I feel for the common chord again,
Sliding by semi-tones till I sink to a minor,yes,
And I blunt it into a ninth, and I stand on alien ground,
Surveying a while the heights I rolled from into the deep;
Which, hark, I have dared and done, for my resting-place is found,
The C Major of this life: so, now I will try to sleep.”
—Robert Browning (18121889)
