Crusaders (rugby Union) - Franchise Area

Franchise Area

⊗ AMI Stadium ⊗ Alpine Energy Stadium ⊗ Trafalgar Park

The Crusaders' franchise area consists of the regions controlled by the Buller, Canterbury, Mid-Canterbury, South Canterbury, Tasman and West Coast rugby unions. Before 2006, when the domestic National Provincial Championship was reorganised, Canterbury was the only provincial union playing division one (now ITM Cup) within the Crusaders' franchise area. As a result, the majority of Crusaders players played for Canterbury. Today, the Crusaders' franchise area contains two ITM Cup sides — Canterbury and Tasman.

Famous quotes containing the words franchise and/or area:

    Many famous feet have trod
    Sublunary paths, and famous hands have weighed
    The strength they have against the strength they need;
    And famous lips interrogated God
    Concerning franchise in eternity....
    Philip Larkin (1922–1986)

    During the Civil War the area became a refuge for service- dodging Texans, and gangs of bushwhackers, as they were called, hid in its fastnesses. Conscript details of the Confederate Army hunted the fugitives and occasional skirmishes resulted.
