Crown of Ireland Act 1542 - The Act Today

The Act Today

As of 2011 Northern Ireland remains a constituent part of the United Kingdom; the Henrician Act remains law there. Famous quotes containing the words act and/or today:

Fatigue dulls the pain, but awakes enticing thoughts of death. So! that is the way in which you are tempted to overcome your loneliness—by making the ultimate escape from life..—No! It may be that death is to be your ultimate gift to life: it must not be an act of treachery against it.
    Dag Hammarskjöld (1905–1961)

Working women today are trying to achieve in the work world what men have achieved all along—but men have always had the help of a woman at home who took care of all the other details of living! Jeanne Elium (20th century)
