Crime in The United Arab Emirates - Human Trafficking

Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a problem which involves trafficking of young boys and women. Young boys are trafficked into the country for the purpose of being used as camel jockeys. There were many camel jockeys working in the UAE under inhumane conditions but these have now been replaced by robot jockeys. Most camel jockeys were found in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The country is in the process of eradicating this issue completely.

In 2009, there were 43 cases of human trafficking in the UAE, up from 20 cases in 2008.

Famous quotes containing the word human:

Unless a group of workers know their work is under surveillance, that they are being rated as fairly as human beings, with the fallibility that goes with human judgment, can rate them, and that at least an attempt is made to measure their worth to an organization in relative terms, they are likely to sink back on length of service as the sole reason for retention and promotion.
