Courage UK - History

History

Courage UK was founded in February 1988 by Jeremy Marks. The group was originally affiliated with the ex-gay movement and was once a member of Exodus International, but as of 2002, the organization abandoned those views and its affiliation with the ex-gay movement. At the time of its founding, the group's efforts were considered progressive, because it reached out to gay people rather than condemning them to hell.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

One classic American landscape haunts all of American literature. It is a picture of Eden, perceived at the instant of history when corruption has just begun to set in. The serpent has shown his scaly head in the undergrowth. The apple gleams on the tree. The old drama of the Fall is ready to start all over again.
    Jonathan Raban (b. 1942)

Three million of such stones would be needed before the work was done. Three million stones of an average weight of 5,000 pounds, every stone cut precisely to fit into its destined place in the great pyramid. From the quarries they pulled the stones across the desert to the banks of the Nile. Never in the history of the world had so great a task been performed. Their faith gave them strength, and their joy gave them song.
    William Faulkner (1897–1962)

When the history of guilt is written, parents who refuse their children money will be right up there in the Top Ten.
    Erma Brombeck (20th century)
