Cougar Ridge Elementary School - History

History

Cougar Ridge Elementary School was opened in 1992 offering schooling for the Cougar Mountain community. The first principal for the school was Patty Kirk who was the acting principal until 2002, when Susan Quick (later married becoming Susan Walker) took over Kirk's position. In 2001 to reduce crowding at Cougar Ridge due to increased attendance, all students attending the school who lived along Village Park Drive, in neighboorhoods such as Lakemont were enrolled into Sunset Elementary School, a school located down the hill from Cougar Ridge. This helped reduce the number of students at the school dramatically. Today, the school's attendance area still remains the same from 2002.

For the 2011 GreatSchools.org rated Cougar Ridge Elementary a 10 out 10 score which is heavily based on state and federal testing standards. Making this elementary school one of the top in the state of Washington as well as in Issaquah.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

If you look at the 150 years of modern China’s history since the Opium Wars, then you can’t avoid the conclusion that the last 15 years are the best 15 years in China’s modern history.
    J. Stapleton Roy (b. 1935)

It may be well to remember that the highest level of moral aspiration recorded in history was reached by a few ancient Jews—Micah, Isaiah, and the rest—who took no count whatever of what might not happen to them after death. It is not obvious to me why the same point should not by and by be reached by the Gentiles.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)

Those who weep for the happy periods which they encounter in history acknowledge what they want; not the alleviation but the silencing of misery.
    Albert Camus (1913–1960)
