Rolling Stock
For the opening of the line two "toast rack" carriages were supplied by Kerr Stuart, the first being a 1st/3rd composite (with the first class area enclosed) the second being all 3rd all open. Initially only one carriage was used at a time as the Kitson Locomotive was unable to draw two fully loaded carriages up the incline to Corringham station. These two carriages were added to by 1905 by a 4 wheel all 3rd carriage of LTSR origin. During the First World War three more bogie carriages of Midland Railway origin where acquired due to a further influx in staff to Thames works. Towards the end of its life the railway resorted to using two ex-LTSR four wheel carriages as noted in the Stephenson Locomotive Society visit in 1958.

Famous quotes containing the words rolling and/or stock:
“The gods had condemned Sisyphus to ceaselessly rolling a rock to the top of a mountain, whence the stone would fall back of its own weight. They had thought with some reason that there is no more dreadful punishment than futile and hopeless labor.”
—Albert Camus (19131960)
“I have, thanks to my travels, added to my stock all the superstitions of other countries. I know them all now, and in any critical moment of my life, they all rise up in armed legions for or against me.”
—Sarah Bernhardt (18441923)
