Corporate Angel Network

The Corporate Angel Network (CAN) is an American non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to arrange free air travel for cancer patients to treatment centers by using the empty seats on corporate aircraft flying on routine business. They are based in White Plains, NY, and operate from an office donated by the Westchester County Airport. The charity currently arranges around 2,500 flights per year and has provided nearly 40,000 flights since its founding in 1981. The Corporate Angel Network was given the 2007 Hope Funds Award for Philanthrophy.

Dr. Leonard Greene, a co-founder of the charity, died on November 30, 2006.

Famous quotes containing the words corporate, angel and/or network:

“It’s hard enough to adjust [to the lack of control] in the beginning,” says a corporate vice president and single mother. “But then you realize that everything keeps changing, so you never regain control. I was just learning to take care of the belly-button stump, when it fell off. I had just learned to make formula really efficiently, when Sarah stopped using it.”
    Anne C. Weisberg (20th century)

And the angel in the gate, the flowering plum,
    Dances like Italy, imagining red.
    Louis Simpson (b. 1923)

A culture may be conceived as a network of beliefs and purposes in which any string in the net pulls and is pulled by the others, thus perpetually changing the configuration of the whole. If the cultural element called morals takes on a new shape, we must ask what other strings have pulled it out of line. It cannot be one solitary string, nor even the strings nearby, for the network is three-dimensional at least.
    Jacques Barzun (b. 1907)
