- Peel Castle on the Isle of Man
- Ravenglass, Keswick
- Whitehaven, in the Lake District of north-west England
- Red Castle built for William I of Scotland
- Scarponnois, a mediaeval county in the department Meurthe-et-Moselle in France near Gorze Abbey
