Famous quotes containing the words cooper, river, bridge and/or run:

    Humanity from the first has had its vultures and sharks, and representatives of the fraternity who prey upon mankind may be expected no less in America than elsewhere. Bullies are always cowards at heart ...
    —Anna Julia Cooper (1859–1964)

    Ask me no more: thy fate and mine are sealed;
    I strove against the stream and all in vain;
    Let the great river take me to the main.
    No more, dear love, for at a touch I yield;

    Alfred Tennyson (1809–1892)

    Barbara Ehrenreich (b. 1941)

    Whoever sincerely believes that elevated and distant goals are as little use to man as a cow, that “all of our problems” come from such goals, is left to eat, drink, sleep, or, when he gets sick of that, to run up to a chest and smash his forehead on its corner.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)
