Control Car Remote Control Locomotive

A Control Car Remote Control Locomotive (CCRCL) is a stripped diesel locomotive body with remote control equipment installed. The term and the units are a creation of the Union Pacific Railroad, which as of 2005 is widely adopting remote control of locomotives in switching service. They are sometimes improperly called slugs, and differ from normal remote control locomotives as they cannot move on their own.

Famous quotes containing the words control, car, remote and/or locomotive:

Above and beyond paying attention to feelings before and after a separation, never threaten your child with leaving or loss of love in an effort to control her behavior. Children believe their parents’ assertions that “I will send you away,” “I won’t love you any more,” “I’ll go away,” and are terrified with good reason. Fear is a very poor way of disciplining a child, and it can cause severe lifelong anxiety.
    Alicia F. Lieberman (20th century)

Fifty years from now, it will not matter what kind of car you drove, what kind of house you lived in, how much you had in your bank account, or what your clothes looked like, But the world may be a little better because you were important in the life of a child.
—Anonymous. Quoted in The Winning Family, by Louise Hart, ch. 1 (1987)

Science is nothing but the finding of analogy, identity, in the most remote parts.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The American people have done much for the locomotive, and the locomotive has done much for them.
    James A. Garfield (1831–1881)
