This episode was originally the pilot. Additionally it seems to have been filmed earlier than the other five episodes in the series: Rik Mayall's hair is shorter than usual while Adrian Edmondson's is longer, and he does not sport Eddie's usual sideburns.
The positioning of the Hammond organ, usually against the back wall of the flat but in this episode against the 'fourth wall' adds weight to this assumption.
