Differential Diagnosis
Hyperaldosteronism can be mimicked by Liddle syndrome, and by ingestion of liquorice and other foods containing glycyrrhizin. In one case report, hypertension and quadriparesis resulted from intoxication with a nonalcoholic pastis (an anise-flavored aperitif containing glycyrrhizinic acid).
