Connecticut Green Party - Ballot Access

Ballot Access

On August 9, 2006, the Connecticut Greens submitted 13,000 signatures to complete their state-wide petition drive for ballot access. Only 7,500 signatures were needed by 4 pm on Wednesday, but the party presented 13,000 as a buffer in case of any errors. Due to the 2010 congressional results, the Connecticut Greens currently hold ballot access in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd congressional districts.

Famous quotes containing the words ballot and/or access:

I do not think the mere extension of the ballot a panacea for all the ills of our national life. What we need to-day is not simply more voters, but better voters.
    Frances Ellen Watkins Harper (1825–1911)

The nature of women’s oppression is unique: women are oppressed as women, regardless of class or race; some women have access to significant wealth, but that wealth does not signify power; women are to be found everywhere, but own or control no appreciable territory; women live with those who oppress them, sleep with them, have their children—we are tangled, hopelessly it seems, in the gut of the machinery and way of life which is ruinous to us.
    Andrea Dworkin (b. 1946)
