Connecticut Council of Academic Library Directors

The Connecticut Council of Academic Library Directors is a Connecticut-wide body founded in 1993; its members are directors of academic libraries in Connecticut. The purposes of the Council are:

  • To improve services and access to resources through cooperation,
  • To benefit economically by purchasing and applying for grants collectively,
  • To serve as a means of communication among Connecticut library directors, and
  • To make recommendations and represent the point of view of Connecticut academic library directors to any agency affecting their service.

Famous quotes containing the words council, academic and/or library:

I haven’t seen so much tippy-toeing around since the last time I went to the ballet. When members of the arts community were asked this week about one of their biggest benefactors, Philip Morris, and its requests that they lobby the New York City Council on the company’s behalf, the pas de deux of self- justification was so painstakingly choreographed that it constituted a performance all by itself.
    Anna Quindlen (b. 1952)

The academic expectations for a child just beginning school are minimal. You want your child to come to preschool feeling happy, reasonably secure, and eager to explore and learn.
    Bettye M. Caldwell (20th century)

Madam, a circulating library in a town is as an evergreen tree of diabolical knowledge; it blossoms through the year. And depend on it ... that they who are so fond of handling the leaves, will long for the fruit at last.
    Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751–1816)
