Congregational Federation

The Congregational Federation is a Federation (or Association or Union) of independent Congregational churches in England, Scotland and Wales.

Formed in 1972 from those Congregational churches which did not enter the union of the Presbyterian Church of England with the Congregational Church in England and Wales (the body that succeeded the Congregational Union of England and Wales in 1966) to form the United Reformed Church. These were joined in 2000 by member churches of the Congregational Union of Scotland that chose not to join their merger with the United Reformed Church.

It comprises just over 300 churches and provides among other things training and publications. Their magazine is The Congregationalist. Some of their churches are also in membership of the Evangelical Fellowship of Congregational Churches. The Congregational Federation's offices are in Nottingham. It is a member of the International Congregational Fellowship.

Famous quotes containing the word federation:

Women realize that we are living in an ungoverned world. At heart we are all pacifists. We should love to talk it over with the war-makers, but they would not understand. Words are so inadequate, and we realize that the hatred must kill itself; so we give our men gladly, unselfishly, proudly, patriotically, since the world chooses to settle its disputes in the old barbarous way.
