The Competition and Consumer Act 2010 is an act of the Parliament of Australia. On 1 January 2011 the Trade Practices Act 1974 was replaced by the Competition and Consumer Act 2010. The act provides for protection of consumers and prevents some restrictive trade practices of companies. It is the key competition law in Australia. It is administered by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission and also gives some rights for private action.
