Famous quotes containing the words national, bank, trust, company and/or building:

I submit all my plays to the National Theatre for rejection. To assure myself I am seeing clearly.

People get a bad impression of it by continually trying to treat it as if it was a bank clerk, who ought to be on time on Tuesday next, instead of philosophically seeing it as a painter, who may do anything so long as you don’t try to predict what.
    Katharine Whitehorn (b. 1926)

2nd Murderer. I’ll not meddle with it. It makes a man a coward.... It fills a man full of obstacles. It made me once restore a purse of gold that by chance I found. William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

—For the State of Iowa, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Whoever places his trust into a system will soon be without a home. While you are building your third story, the two lower ones have already been dismantled.
    Franz Grillparzer (1791–1872)
