Comic Strip Formats - Sunday Strip

Sunday Strip

There is a much greater variety in Sunday strip formats. Sunday strips are usually in color, published in a special newspaper section, the Sunday comics section. Comics sections usually come in one of two sizes, full page or tabloid. A few newspapers ran their comics in a comic-book size section from the mid-to-late 1970s to the mid-1980s (billed as "collectable comics"), and some strips have appeared in the Sunday magazine of newspapers, such as the 1990 Dick Tracy reprints in the Daily News Magazine of the New York Daily News.

Famous quotes containing the words sunday and/or strip:

    When every Sunday afternoon
On the Green Lands I walk
And wear a coat in fashion,
    Memories of the talk
Of hen wives and of queer old men
Brace me and make me strong....
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

The annals of this voracious beach! who could write them, unless it were a shipwrecked sailor? How many who have seen it have seen it only in the midst of danger and distress, the last strip of earth which their mortal eyes beheld. Think of the amount of suffering which a single strand had witnessed! The ancients would have represented it as a sea-monster with open jaws, more terrible than Scylla and Charybdis.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
