Original Version
The earliest version of this song by Earl King came out in 1960 from Ace Records subsidiary Rex label under the name "Darling Honey Angel Child". In the same year, King left Ace for Imperial Records where he recorded the song again this time with changed lyrics. The recording was released as "Come On Part 1” b/w “Come On Part 2” (Imperial 5713) in 1960.

Famous quotes containing the words original and/or version:
“That Calvinistic sense of Innate Depravity and Original Sin, from whose visitations, in some shape or another, no deeply thinking mind is always and wholly free. For, in certain moods, no man can weigh this world, without throwing in something, somehow like Original Sin, to strike the uneven balance.”
—Herman Melville (18191891)
“I should think that an ordinary copy of the King James version would have been good enough for those Congressmen.”
—Calvin Coolidge (18721933)
