College Park Center

The College Park Center is an indoor, multi-purpose arena on the University of Texas at Arlington campus in Arlington, Texas.

It is primarily used for Mavericks basketball games where it seats up to 7,000 spectators. It will also host graduation ceremonies, concerts and speakers. On February 17, 2012 it hosted boxing as part of ESPN's Friday Night Fights series.

The arena is part of a 20 acre section of the campus known as the College Park District. The College Park District, scheduled for completion in 2012, will include a residence hall, student apartments, a 4.62 acre park called The Green at College Park, restaurants, and parking.

Famous quotes containing the words college, park and/or center:

The mode of founding a college is, commonly, to get up a subscription of dollars and cents, and then, following blindly the principles of a division of labor to its extreme,—a principle which should never be followed but with circumspection,—to call in a contractor who makes this a subject of speculation,... and for these oversights successive generations have to pay.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

Borrow a child and get on welfare.
Borrow a child and stay in the house all day with the child,
or go to the public park with the child, and take the child
to the welfare office and cry and say your man left you and
be humble and wear your dress and your smile, and don’t talk
    back ...
    Susan Griffin (b. 1943)

Against the Word the unstilled world still whirled
About the center of the silent Word.
