Coimbatore Airport

Coimbatore Airport(IATA: CJB, ICAO: VOCB) is located at Peelamedu, Coimbatore. According to Airports Authority of India, it was previously known as Coimbatore Civil Aerodrome. It is about 11 km (6.8 mi) from the city center. It is located along Peelamedu and Neelambur, with passenger entry at Neelambur and cargo entry at Peelamedu. It is the eleventh largest airport in India in terms of total passenger movement and the third largest in Tamil Nadu, after Chennai International Airport,Trichirapalli Airport. The Prime Minister of India declared the government's intention to upgrade Coimbatore Airport to International status in a meeting with senior ministers on 6 June 2012. The Union Cabinet granted it the status of international airport on October 2, 2012.
