Cooper "Coop" Barrett is a fictional character on the ABC soap opera, General Hospital. He was portrayed by Jason Gerhardt from 2007 until the character was killed off the show in 2008.

Cooper arrives in Port Charles in January 2008 as "Three," one of the seven assailants that take the Metro Court Hotel hostage. He bonds with Maxie Jones while they two are trapped in the hotel vault during the crisis. After the hotel explodes, Maxie sneaks Coop out and hides his part in the hostage crisis. She helps him get a job working security at the same hotel until Sonny Corinthos finds out he was one of the hostage takers. Sonny coerces Coop into becoming a cop at the PCPD to feed Sonny and Jason information. Cooper and Maxie begin dating, but face tough times when Maxie cheats on him with Logan Hayes. Cooper is found dead in January 2008. It is initially believed to have been a suicidal hanging and that Cooper was the Text Message Killer, but it is later revealed that Cooper was murdered by the real killer, Diego Alcazar.

Famous quotes containing the words cooper and/or barrett:

Agnosticism has nothing to impart. Its sermons are the exhortations of one who convinces you he stands on nothing and urges you to stand there too.
    —Anna Julia Cooper (1859–1964)

    What is art,
But life upon the larger scale, the higher,
When, graduating up in a spiral line
Of still expanding and ascending gyres,
It pushes toward the intense significance
Of all things, hungry for the Infinite?
Art’s life,—and where we live, we suffer and toil.
    —Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–1861)
