Business

In 2011 Clover registered an annual turnover of more R6.5 billion and net assets of R1.75 billion and with a staff complement of approximately 6500. The company collects about 30% of South Africa's milk production, processes it in 12 factories and distributes its range of dairy products through 23 national distribution centers and 7 large agents. The company’s core competencies lie in:

  • The production of dairy and non-dairy consumer products.
  • The distribution of chilled and ambient consumer products.
  • The sales and merchandising of consumer goods.

Clover has developed one of the largest and most extensive distribution networks in chilled and ambient FMCG products in South Africa. This network, created and sustained by the dairy business, is a key asset and core competency of the company and it is expected that it will facilitate the growth of the business as it provides an ideal platform for Clover to reach an extensive cross section of South African customers. Clover currently delivers with a high frequency to approximately 14000 delivery points across South Africa.

Famous quotes containing the word business:

Young men of the fairest promise, who begin life upon our shores, inflated by the mountain winds, shined upon by all the stars of God, find the earth below not in unison with these,—but are hindered from action by the disgust which the principles on which business is managed inspire, and turn drudges, or die of disgust,—some of them suicides.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The point is that nationalism, even in its latest madhouse frenzies under Mussolini and Hitler, is still, like advertising, an arm of big business. Nations as we know them today, were the invention of business and it is natural that business should still consider itself slightly above patriotism and that the strongest international should still be the international of profits.
    John Dos Passos (1896–1970)

I’m afraid for all those who’ll have the bread snatched from their mouths by these machines.... What business has science and capitalism got, bringing all these new inventions into the works, before society has produced a generation educated up to using them!
    Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906)
