Claudia Nolte - Childhood

Childhood

Claudia Wiesemüller was born in 1966 and in her teenage years was refused admission to a college preparatory school due to her participation in Catholic church youth activities. East German school officials required her to learn a trade before she could enroll in college, so whilst attending a technical secondary school in Rostock, she took vocational training in marine electronics from 1982 to 1984.

Famous quotes containing the word childhood:

We hear a great deal of lamentation these days about writers having all taken themselves to the colleges and universities where they live decorously instead of going out and getting firsthand information about life. The fact is that anybody who has survived his childhood has enough information about life to last him the rest of his days.
    Flannery O’Connor (1925–1964)

... a country encapsulates our childhood and those lanes, byres, fields, flowers, insects, suns, moons and stars are forever reoccurring.
    Edna O’Brien (b. c. 1932)

Ah happy hills! ah pleasing shade!
    Ah fields beloved in vain!
Where once my careless childhood stray’d,
    Thomas Gray (1716–1771)
