Clarendon College (Jamaica)
Clarendon College, commonly called CC, is a high school in the town of Chapelton in northern Clarendon, Jamaica. It is the oldest school in the parish and was founded on February 2, 1942 by the Rev. Lester Davy. Rev. Davy was born in 1909 and trained at The Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica. Reverent T. Hughs convinced Davy to build a school and indeed he did so. The school started with only two teachers, Rev. Davy and Mrs. Hyacinth Balford, and ten students. A march takes place every year on February 2 to highlight and commemorate the legacy of Rev. Davy.
Clarendon College is well known for producing successful alumni who usually persevere in academics and sports. It also is known for it unusually large campus which extends to approximately 120 acres. The current principal of Clarendon College is David Wilson and its motto reads: "Perstare et Praestare."
