Camogie
Camogie was established by County Secreatry Mick Hennessy of Clooney in 1934. Peggy Nagle of Ennistymon and Sheila Carroll of Lahinch revived the game in 1958. Notable players include All Star award winner Catherine O'Loughlin, young player of the year winner Carina Roseingrave and Patricia Morrissey, junior player of the year award winner Maura McNicholas, Marjorie Griffin who won three medals with Antrim1945-47, and Clare Jones who captained Clare to the Junior All-Ireland title in 1981 and won five medals with Kilkanny 1986-1990. Under Camogie’s National Development Plan 2010-2015, “Our Game, Our Passion,” five new camogie clubs are to be established in the county by 2015.
