Churchill Cup - Early History

Early History

The Churchill Cup event, named after former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, "Britain's Man of the Century", sees a five-year agreement amongst England, Canada and the USA with each forming part of the new company, "Churchill Cup Inc.". Former Prime Minister Churchill shared close ties with the United States - his mother was American - and obviously with Canada during the Second World War, so it is fitting that is tournament bears his name.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or history:

In early times every sort of advantage tends to become a military advantage; such is the best way, then, to keep it alive. But the Jewish advantage never did so; beginning in religion, contrary to a thousand analogies, it remained religious. For that we care for them; from that have issued endless consequences.
    Walter Bagehot (1826–1877)

The history of the world is the record of the weakness, frailty and death of public opinion.
    Samuel Butler (1835–1902)
