Center For Anglican Learning & Leadership (CALL) Programs

The Center for Anglican Learning & Leadership (CALL) offers courses and conferences around various theological, spiritual, and pastoral issues affecting the Episcopal Church, as well as the Church at large. CALL’s instructors come from across the United States, and all courses are reviewed faculty at CDSP.

CALL offers the following programs:

  • Online Courses – These courses address a wide range of subjects including history, theology, spirituality, leadership, pastoral care, liturgy & worship, scripture, and Anglican studies. Courses are suitable for both lay people and clergy. In 2007, CALL's online courses were featured in an article on Episcopal Life Online.
  • Summer Session – One- or two-week intensive courses in biblical study, theology of ministry and discipleship, preaching, worship, congregational leadership and mission. Courses are suitable for both lay people and clergy.
  • Anglican Immersion - A part of the Summer Session, the Anglican Immersion is two-week residential experience in which students immerse themselves in Anglican liturgy, theology, history, and ethos on the CDSP campus. While it is a required part of the HyCAS program, this Immersion is open to students in other degree programs as well as continuing education students.
  • Epiphany West – An annual conference suitable for both lay people and clergy that offers classes, lectures, workshops, and discussions. On February 8, 2008 Epiphany West was featured in the Episcopal News Service and published on Episcopal Life Online.

Famous quotes containing the words center, anglican, learning and/or programs:

Death is someone you see very clearly with eyes in the center of your heart: eyes that see not by reacting to light, but by reacting to a kind of a chill from within the marrow of your own life.
    Thomas Merton (1915–1968)

The Anglican Church is marked by the grace and good sense of its forms, by the manly grace of its clergy. The gospel it preaches is, “By taste are ye saved.” ... It is not in ordinary a persecuting church; it is not inquisitorial, not even inquisitive, is perfectly well bred and can shut its eyes on all proper occasions. If you let it alone, it will let you alone. But its instinct is hostile to all change in politics, literature, or social arts.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Lionel Johnson comes the first to mind,
That loved his learning better than mankind,
Though courteous to the worst; much falling he
    Brooded upon sanctity....
    William Butler Yeats (1865–1939)

[The Republicans] offer ... a detailed agenda for national renewal.... [On] reducing illegitimacy ... the state will use ... funds for programs to reduce out-of-wedlock pregnancies, to promote adoption, to establish and operate children’s group homes, to establish and operate residential group homes for unwed mothers, or for any purpose the state deems appropriate. None of the taxpayer funds may be used for abortion services or abortion counseling.
    Newt Gingrich (b. 1943)
