Christ's Commission Fellowship - History

History

In 1982, Pastor Peter Tan-Chi, began an evangelistic home Bible study in Brookside Subdivision, Cainta, Rizal. Only three couples attended that first Bible study, but as they began to invite their friends, who then invited their own friends and families, the Bible study grew and moved to San Juan City. Two years later, A core group of 40 people (businessmen, professionals, and their families) emerged from these Bible studies. Later on, they met at the Asian Institute of Management for their first Sunday worship service and launched "Christ’s Commission Foundation" in August 1984.

Since then, CCF’s continuous growth has caused its worship services to move from place to place. From AIM, services moved to Greenbelt in Makati City, then to the Conference Room of the Philippine International Convention Center, and then to the PICC Plenary Hall. Worshippers then split in order to attend at two different venues, one in CCF Sucat, and one at the Valle Verde Country Club.

In 1997, CCF's worship services transferred to St. Francis Square in Ortigas Center, it was served as "CCF St. Francis Square", and changed its name to "Christ's Commission Fellowship". Today, it is now thriving church of approximately 30,000 members and considered as one of the largest neo-Evangelical churches in the country, with worship and bible study centers in major cities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, then it has an international outreach, one in Singapore, Sydney, Australia, Auckland, New Zealand and Los Angeles, USA with overall 37 outreaches worldwide. It is a unique fellowship composed of and led by lay men and women, all of whom still share God’s love and the Gospel in the style of the first century Christians, in small groups, in their homes, communities, and workplaces. It is an indigenous church, which operates without foreign affiliation or financial assistance. The vision that the Lord gave to the leaders of CCF is to establish a church patterned after that of the New Testament. The emphasis of CCF is on the active participation and ministry of lay people committed to fulfilling Christ's purpose, and all Christians are called by the Lord to be ministers to make committed followers of Jesus Christ. Our work has just begun. We welcome all who are willing to share the same vision to labor together with us for the glory of God and His kingdom.

On August 30, 2009, CCF celebrated its 25th Anniversary of the church and God’s faithfulness, attended with thousands of members from different CCF outreaches nationwide. It was held at Araneta Coliseum (now Smart Araneta Coliseum), Quezon City.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

In front of these sinister facts, the first lesson of history is the good of evil. Good is a good doctor, but Bad is sometimes a better.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

The steps toward the emancipation of women are first intellectual, then industrial, lastly legal and political. Great strides in the first two of these stages already have been made of millions of women who do not yet perceive that it is surely carrying them towards the last.
Ellen Battelle Dietrick, U.S. suffragist. As quoted in History of Woman Suffrage, vol. 4, ch. 13, by Susan B. Anthony and Ida Husted Harper (1902)

Psychology keeps trying to vindicate human nature. History keeps undermining the effort.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)
