Christopher Martin married Mary/Marie (____) Prower on February 26, 1606/7 in Great Burstead, Essex. She was the widow of (John?) Prower, a laborer of Hockley, co. Essex, known as “Marie Prower” by who she had one son, Solomon. Also, she had one son, Nathaniel, with Christopher Martin.

Child of Mary ____ and ______ Prower:

Child of Christopher and Mary Martin:

  • Nathaniel Martin, baptized February 26, 1609/10 in Billericay, Great Burstead, Essex. He was apparently still alive in 1620, but nothing further is known, and may have died prior to the Mayflower sailing as he was not with his family on that ship. Nathaniel was their only known child together. No other children are recorded to the couple.

Famous quotes containing the word family:

Of all the vices, lewdness is the worst; of all the virtues, family duty is the first.
    —Chinese proverb.

    Rhyme.

English people apparently queue up as a sort of hobby. A family man might pass a mild autumn evening by taking the wife and kids to stand in the cinema queue for a while and then leading them over for a few minutes in the sweetshop queue and then, as a special treat for the kids, saying “Perhaps we’ve time to have a look at the Number Thirty-One bus queue before we turn in.”
    Calvin Trillin (b. 1940)

In the capsule biography by which most of the people knew one another, I was understood to be an Air Force pilot whose family was wealthy and lived in the East, and I even added the detail that I had a broken marriage and drank to get over it.... I sometimes believed what I said and tried to take the cure in the very real sun of Desert D’Or with its cactus, its mountain, and the bright green foliage of its love and its money.
    Norman Mailer (b. 1923)
