Chris Columbus (filmmaker)
Chris Joseph Columbus (born September 10, 1958) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. Columbus is known for such movies as The Goonies, Gremlins, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Home Alone, the last receiving a British Comedy Award for Best Comedy Film. He is also known as the director who began the Harry Potter film series by directing the first two films in the series of eight. As a producer, he received an Academy Award nomination for his film The Help.
