Chris Cester

Christopher James Cester (born 16 September 1981) is the drummer and backing vocalist from Australian rock band Jet. His brother is Nic Cester, the band's lead singer. Their mother is Scottish, and their father is Australian with Italian parents.

Chris and Nic grew up in Melbourne, Australia, listening to the classic music their parents liked, such as The Beatles' Abbey Road which was their favourite album. When the Cester brothers used to play pretend gigs in their living room, Chris was the singer, but he eventually changed to drums, pretending to play while Nic sang. The boys formed a band with Cameron Muncey on guitar and vocals and Mark Wilson on bass. Chris plays the drums primarily but also plays guitars and sings most of the songs he writes. During the making of Shine On, Chris and Nic's father died of cancer. This made it difficult to write the rest of the album but they wrote the song "Shine On" for their father. The band was named after the song "Jet" by former Beatle Paul McCartney and his band, Wings. Chris currently lives in LA. Chris' uncle is Eugene Cester of the Australian alt-band TISM.

Chris also uses Gretsch drums, with a Brady 14" x 8" Jarrah Ply snare and Zildjian cymbals. His cymbal setup is a pair of 15" A Zildjian New Beat Hats, and a 22" K Zildjian Dark Ride.

Cester also fronts the band DAMNDOGS with cousin Mitch McIvor and JET keyboardist Louis Macklin. They released their debut EP "Strange Behaviour" on August 9, 2011 via iTunes.
