Choir of Leeds Parish Church - Friends of The Music

Friends of The Music

The Friends of the Music of Leeds Minster (a support organisation founded in 1951) has saved the choir from oblivion. On its formation the Friends was the first such support group established at an English parochial foundation; there have since been many successors. The support of many parishioners and headteachers of the parochial school, St Peter's Church of England Primary School in Burmantofts, has also been vital to the choir's survival.

Famous quotes containing the words friends and/or music:

He did not live, he observed life from a window, and too often was inclined to content himself with no more than what his friends told him they saw when they looked out of a window.... In the end the point of Henry James is neither his artistry nor his seriousness, but his personality, and this was curious and charming and a trifle absurd.
    W. Somerset Maugham (1874–1965)

So gladly, from the songs of modern speech
Men turn, and see the stars, and feel the free
Shrill wind beyond the close of heavy flowers,
And through the music of the languid hours,
They hear like ocean on a western beach
The surge and thunder of the Odyssey.
    Andrew Lang (1844–1912)
