Chiropsalmus Quadrigatus - Description

Description

Chiropsoides quadrigatus is a transparent jellyfish with up to 8 flat, white colored white tentacles coming from each of four hand shaped pedalia. Dr. Jamie Seymour suggests that flat tentacles are made for catching fish, while round tentacles are made for catching prawn-like creatures. The jellyfish has a diameter of about 7.9 inches at maturity and possibly larger. Chiropsoides quadrigatus has eight leaf-shaped gonads.

Famous quotes containing the word description:

Whose are the truly labored sentences? From the weak and flimsy periods of the politician and literary man, we are glad to turn even to the description of work, the simple record of the month’s labor in the farmer’s almanac, to restore our tone and spirits.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

To give an accurate description of what has never occurred is not merely the proper occupation of the historian, but the inalienable privilege of any man of parts and culture.
    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

I fancy it must be the quantity of animal food eaten by the English which renders their character insusceptible of civilisation. I suspect it is in their kitchens and not in their churches that their reformation must be worked, and that Missionaries of that description from [France] would avail more than those who should endeavor to tame them by precepts of religion or philosophy.
    Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826)
