Chinnalapatti - Festivals and Carnivals

Festivals and Carnivals

Most of the people in Chinnalapatti are conservative Hindus and retain their traditional festivals.

  • Alagar festival is celebrated every year.*

Another notable celebration is Sandhu marichi(Veedhi) Devru Mokku(Street worship of god in Kannada). In recent years many non-Kannadic groups are also participating this celebration.

Christians are in notable numbers in Chinnalapatti. The festival of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on August 15 and the family day on 30 December are the special festivals celebrated in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour.

Famous quotes containing the word festivals:

This is certainly not the place for a discourse about what festivals are for. Discussions on this theme were plentiful during that phase of preparation and on the whole were fruitless. My experience is that discussion is fruitless. What sets forth and demonstrates is the sight of events in action, is living through these events and understanding them.
    Doris Lessing (b. 1919)
