Famous quotes containing the words people, public, security and/or university:

Whatever we’re doing, whoever we are, it isn’t enough. . . . Little wonder we have trouble finding role models to guide us through these shoals. No one less than God Herself could be all the things we’d like to be to all the people we’d like to feel approval from.
    Melinda M. Marshall (20th century)

They had their fortunes to make, everything to gain and nothing to lose. They were schooled in and anxious for debates; forcible in argument; reckless and brilliant. For them it was but a short and natural step from swaying juries in courtroom battles over the ownership of land to swaying constituents in contests for office. —Federal Writers’ Project Of The Wor, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)

Happiness is peace after strife, the overcoming of difficulties, the feeling of security and well-being. The only really happy folk are married women and single men.
    —H.L. (Henry Lewis)

I had a classmate who fitted for college by the lamps of a lighthouse, which was more light, we think, than the University afforded.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
