Famous quotes containing the words dynasties, ten, kingdoms and/or period:

All forms of government symbolize an immortal government, common to all dynasties and independent of numbers, perfect where two men exist, perfect where there is only one man.
    Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803–1882)

Genius ... is the capacity to see ten things where the ordinary man sees one, and where the man of talent sees two or three, plus the ability to register that multiple perception in the material of his art.
    Ezra Pound (1885–1972)

In this element the animal and vegetable kingdoms meet and are strangely mingled.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

After all, the practical reason why, when the power is once in the hands of the people, a majority are permitted, and for a long period continue, to rule is not because they are most likely to be in the right, nor because this seems fairest to the minority, but because they are physically the strongest. But a government in which the majority rule in all cases cannot be based on justice, even as far as men understand it.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
