CATIC and Olympic Games
CATIC plaza, the location of CATIC headquarters, is the only non-Olympic company located in the Olympic centre district, and the closest building to the Beijing National Stadium, the so-called Bird's Nest. Therefore the Grand Skylight CATIC Hotel, in the north wing of CATIC plaza, is the exclusive 5-Star luxury hotel in the Olympic centre district. The hotel is close enough that the rooms offer guests an incomparible view of the Bird's Nest.
On the opening day of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Israeli President Shimon Peres was accommodated in the Grand Skylight CATIC Hotel by the Chinese Government. Because traveling in a vehicle is prohibited on the Shabbat of Judaism, this allowed him to walk to the opening ceremonies within 5 minutes (under good security protection).
