A Brief Introduction of The CATIC

CATIC, was established in 1979, was jointly owned by China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I) and China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) 50:50, while after the merge of AVIC I and AVIC II, CATIC is to be owned by Aviation Industry Corporation of China. It is a large scale state-owned conglomerate with aviation products & technology import and export as its core business. Headquartered in Beijing, CATIC has 7 specialized companies and 10 regional subsidiaries in China and 56 overseas branches worldwide. With its total assets of up to RMB 24 billion and accumulated import and export volume of US $24 billion thus far, CATIC ranks among the first 20 of China's top 500 enterprises for import and export.

CATIC's aviation business is in general managed by its headquarters in Beijing. As a state authorized dealer of aviation products, CATIC has exported fighters, trainers, bombers, helicopters, transporters, general aviation aircraft and associated airborne equipment and ground support equipment as well as various components and spare parts. At present, over a thousand Chinese-made aircraft are flying over the sky in more than 30 countries. As a primary window and major channel serving China's aviation industry for international cooperation, CATIC has provided to its customers from home and abroad and to the national key projects with professional value-added services including market surveys and analysis, project development, business planning, program management, investment and financing, technology introduction, international trade and cooperation. Through multinational cooperation, CATIC has invested and developed some high-performance aircraft such as K-8 trainer, JF-17 fighter and EC-120 helicopter. As a world-recognized aviation parts and components contractor, CATIC has subcontracted a large number of parts and components of aircraft, engines and airborne equipment for the world famous aviation manufacturers such as Boeing, Airbus, GE, Rolls Royce, Pratt & Whitney, SNECMA, Honeywell and Rockwell Collins. Today, several thousands of aircraft having components supplied by CATIC are flying worldwide.

Specialized companies and regional subsidiaries of CATIC in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Xiamen, Fujian, Hangzhou, Dalian and Harbin focus on non-aviation business. Their business scopes span over trade, industry, commerce, finance, real estate, hotel and real estate management, public tendering and bidding, machinery procurement, civil construction, logistics, investment, leasing, e-business, etc. Their main products include ships, civil engineering machinery, food processing machines, medical equipment, container inspection systems, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles and spare services. In addition, CATIC has contracted international construction projects for countries and regions in Asia, Africa and Middle East. CATIC is the owner of some famous brands and enterprises: FIYTA watches, Shennan circuit, Tianma LCD, Tianhong shopping mall chains, Jiangnan Securities, etc. CATIC also owns two public companies listed on Hong Kong stock market and three companies listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange.
