China At The 2004 Summer Olympics

China competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. The team won 32 gold medals (ranked second) and 63 medals in total (ranked third).

The delegation consisted of 384 athletes (136 men and 248 women) attending 26 events. The average age of the athletes was 22.3 years old. The youngest was a 14-year-old swimmer Zhang Tianyi; and the oldest was the shooter Wang Yifu. There were 136 sportsmen and 248 sportswomen. Of those, 84 previously attended another Olympiad; 23 people attended the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the United States and 79 attended the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The team excludes athletes from the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong, which competed separately as Hong Kong, China.
