From 1992 to 1994, Dave Phillips worked with one employee in a small garage. They helped eight churches made up of 200-300 families. In response to the Los Angeles riots of 1992, CHF increased its food distribution program in South Central Los Angeles. When the 1994 Northridge earthquake struck the San Fernando Valley, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) asked Children's Hunger Fund to participate in relief efforts. Famous quotes containing the word history:

The history of medicine is the history of the unusual.
Robert M. Fresco, and Jack Arnold. Prof. Gerald Deemer (Leo G. Carroll)

Yet poetry, though the last and finest result, is a natural fruit. As naturally as the oak bears an acorn, and the vine a gourd, man bears a poem, either spoken or done. It is the chief and most memorable success, for history is but a prose narrative of poetic deeds.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

What has history to do with me? Mine is the first and only world! I want to report how I find the world. What others have told me about the world is a very small and incidental part of my experience. I have to judge the world, to measure things.
    Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889–1951)
