Child Murder - Genocide and Child Soldiers

Genocide and Child Soldiers

The military use of children refers to children being placed in harm's way in military actions, in order to protect a location or provide propaganda. This is sometimes referred to as child sacrifice, though not equivalent to the religious variety. It may also refer to the use of children as child soldiers or saboteurs.

Red Hand Day on 12 February is an annual commemoration day to draw public attention to the practice of using children as soldiers in wars and armed conflicts.

Famous quotes containing the words child and/or soldiers:

If a child is feeling disappointed, angry, or afraid about something, you can be sympathetic and understanding. But you don’t need to get into your child’s shoes and become disappointed, angry, or afraid yourself. Parents help by standing by their children, not by taking over their children’s moods and feelings.
    Saf Lerman (20th century)

I used to think of death ... like I suppose soldiers think of it: it was a possible thing that I could well avoid by my skill.
    Stendhal [Marie Henri Beyle] (1783–1842)
