Finland
During the Second World War, when Finland was in war with Russia, about 70 000 Finnish children were transported by train and boat mainly to Sweden, but also to Norway and Denmark. By the end of the war, thousands of children were adopted by their "new" parents. This has been called the greatest child migration in the world.
